The story of Sankt Vitus Kaffee

About usA historic-modern café in the heart of Rusovce.

A place for your meetings, celebrations and exceptional moments.

Then and now

A place transformed by time and people.

A new chapter

Since 6 May 2026,
we have been writing a new chapter.

As the current operators, we took over a place with an exceptional history and even greater potential. From day one, we have been improving it, expanding the offer and raising the quality of our services so that you will want to return — for morning coffee, a meeting with friends, a family celebration or one of the most important days of your life.

Our aim is to combine quality gastronomy, professional service and the unique atmosphere of a historic setting into a place unlike any other in Bratislava.

A café unlike any other

History is part of every visit.

Sankt Vitus Kaffee is housed in the restored Church of St Vitus in Rusovce, close to Rusovce park. Historic stonework, high vaults, original architectural details, the piano and the church tower meet a modern café to create an atmosphere that cannot simply be replicated.

During an ordinary visit, enjoy coffee roasted in Slovakia, teas, hot chocolate, lemonades, mixed drinks, cakes and other sweet and savoury treats. But from the beginning we wanted Sankt Vitus Kaffee to be much more than simply a place for coffee.

A place for meetings. For conversations. For culture. For celebrations. And for moments worth remembering.

A place that lives

Every occasion finds its own rhythm here.

The unique atmosphere of the former church is made for live performances, intimate concerts, discussions, exhibitions, social evenings and cultural events.

We are equally happy to transform the venue for your private moments — from birthdays and family celebrations to christenings, anniversaries, corporate meetings and weddings.

We organise private and social events and, depending on the occasion, can provide complete tailored catering. Every event can be different, and that is why we approach each one individually.

Beneath the trees

For a moment, you forget that you are still in Bratislava.

In warmer months, life at Sankt Vitus Kaffee naturally moves into our green garden. Beneath mature trees, beside Rusovce park and overlooking Rusovce manor house, it becomes a peaceful place where the city feels far away.

Come simply for coffee or a glass of wine, or let the garden become a beautiful setting for a celebration, concert, social event or open-air wedding.

When the lights glow between the trees and live music fills the air, Sankt Vitus Kaffee reveals an entirely different face.

A short historical window

A story older than the café itself.

The Church of St Vitus is one of the oldest sacred monuments in Rusovce. Parish sources place its origins in 1208; a new church was built on the original foundations in 1613.

Its story was not always a happy one. In the 1950s the church was destroyed and stripped, then left to decay for many years. The civic association VITUS began its gradual restoration around the mid-1990s.

The person behind the restoration

Dr. Theol. Július Marián Prachár

The long-serving Rusovce priest is a defining figure in the story of the church's restoration. His persistence and energy, together with the work of parishioners, saved and gradually reconstructed a space that might otherwise have remained a ruin.

The parish considers the restoration of St Vitus one of his most significant achievements. After roughly a quarter-century of work, the church reopened to people in 2020 — this time also as the Sankt Vitus Kaffee café and gallery. The idea was to make a historic space accessible and create a place for meetings, culture and dialogue.

And that is the idea we want to continue.

History continues

Preserve its soul. Give it a contemporary form.

With deep respect for everything built here over the decades before us, we want to keep developing Sankt Vitus Kaffee. We are improving the café, its services, the garden and the possibilities of the entire venue. We bring cultural and social events and open the doors to private celebrations, weddings, corporate events and unconventional concepts.

We want you to be able to visit for good coffee on an ordinary day — and return months later to celebrate one of the most important days of your life.

It is a place with history and another story ahead.
We would be delighted if you became part of it.
